Big News coming out of Sigma Omicron the past few weeks!
On March 27, the OSU Greek System hosted their annual Greek Discovery Day for incoming Fall 2010 freshman. Our Rush Chairs, with the help of our Rush Head Bennett Holloway and also Chapter President James Riter led tours all afternoon and started the Recruitment process with hundreds of men. To finish off the night of Greek Discovery Day, as well as our Islander Week, we hosted a band called “Nelo.” They played not only for Islander, but also for all of the men and women who were at Greek Discovery Day. Cabinet has heard from many Greek Ambassadors that we were one of the top in presentation for the rushees on Greek Discovery Day. Look for more exciting updates on Rush to come!
Saturday, April 10, we had our annual Fiji Mom’s Day, which was put on by Brother Joe Goolsby. Joe did a great job planning the event for our moms, as well as us. Many of the brothers in the house went to El Vaquero for lunch, and after lunch we had an auction to raise money for the Phi Gamma Delta Parent’s Club. The parent’s club was a huge help in planning this weekend, and the co-chairs Mrs. Tatum, and Mrs. Hitchcock will be stepping down and are beginning to look for replacements. Thanks to all of their hard work and dedication over the past few years!
The night of Mom’s Day has always been paired with Spring Sing, which is a show that most of the fraternities and sororities pair up and compete in. Fiji was paired with the women of Kappa Delta in this show of singing and dancing, and our theme was “Video Games.” After weeks of practicing, the cast was able to bring home first place, capping off a great year of shows for Phi Gamma Delta. We placed in all three shows, receiving third in Freshman Follies, second in Varsity Revue, and first in Spring Sing.
Brothers, I hope all is going well for you and your families, be on the look out for more updates from the undergraduate brothers of Sigma Omicron.
